Today must have been a nightmare for Celeste Tay. I sent her to school, and left after saying bye. She was taken aback that i was leaving but had no chance to go after me as the teacher had already carried her. She struggled but couldn't do much except to call out "Mama", "Mama". I stayed outside the class for awhile, peeping in on and off, careful enough not to let her see me. Her cries were heard even from afar. Other parents who were there to drop off their kid, tried to calm her down and assure her Mama will come back later. They carried her to soothe her but it didn't help. Its really heart quenching to see my daughter being left there to cry. My eyes were waterly as i stayed outside to wait and see.
The nice parent who tried to calm Celeste earlier, came out and told me to go off to work. He said, "I know its heart-breaking, but its ok, they will have to go through this phrase. Just go to work, if there is any problem, the teachers will call you. He was very nice to tell Celeste from the window, " Uncle will call Mama to pick you up" and distracted her while i slipped off from her view.
Popo was really worried and went to the centre as early as 8am to make sure Celeste is fine. Peeping in, Celeste was still crying and nothing seemed to be able to calm her down. She kept saying "Home" and wanted to take her shoes from the cabinet and pointed out towards the door. She was even attempting to open the little door that leads to the main door. Popo felt so heart pain to see Celeste crying non-stop from 7 plus and of course, when she called to report to me, i really felt sad too. But we both know she has to learn and adapt to the new environment. The teachers commented Celeste really had a strong character as she nv stopped crying and insisted her ways. Up till 11am, Popo could still hear Celeste's cries from afar..
At 11 plus, Celeste finally quietened down when its time for Lunch. The Principal fed her lunch and after 2 spoons, she was just too tired and fell asleep before Popo could pick her up. She woke up and didn't continue to cry, and Popo brought her home.. Popo bought her 2 pieces of cake and she finished them up. Guess the poor gal was real hungry. I hope she will be better off in school tomorrow.. Its another day before the weekend break.
As Justin's advised, remember its a phase they will pass through...
